Hello Myshkin1,
It took me the longest time to figure out how to get those image links on the front page. You have to insert it as an excerpt when you edit. Use the excerpt box under the main edit box on the edit post page. After you’ve designed the post, insert the html of the image link that you want, adjust the height and width (I usually convert it to half size – the math is easier that way), and change the link to the address of the post itself.

The artist is Harry Clarke, an Irish illustrator/stained glass designer, you should be able to find a little about him on Wikipedia.
