Summertime Stands and Kiosks in Helsinki

In the summertime, Helsinki goes through a complete transformation. Leaves appear on the trees, the sun shines, and tiny businesses pop up all over the place. Ice cream stands are hauled in on the backs of trucks and placed strategically around the downtown area. Kiosks that have been closed up and dismal-looking all winter become charming magnets for locals and tourists to sit down in the shade with a cup of coffee and a pulla. the market squares are dotted with cafe tents serving hot drinks, rolls, and newspapers, and little fruit stands appear on busy corners.
